The night barber shop is a visual story about Simon, a barber in Kitooro, Entebbe. He treasures his work and in his small barber shop he keeps a collection of all things he holds dear, ranging from pictures of different male hairstyles, art paintings, religious posters and motivational quotes. These relics are hung all over the shop’s walls and ceiling, storing memories and making it a safe and visually appealing space for all types of clients.
This project centres on the attachments people have to their workspace and how people take pride in their profession. Simon pays attention and care to his customers by providing them with a stylish haircut while they can sit and admire the hundreds of images and other trinkets on the walls. Later on in the night, a television at the shop attracts women to sit and watch soap operas on local television.
