Owomukwano Hildah (Hildah my love)

Writer: Bashaba Gero Bashaba Gero

"When i gave birth to her here in kakiri, i knew i had gotten a blessing from God. But as years passed by, my worry deepened because my daughter was not like other girls. I am a poor and uneducated woman with little knowledge about these modern diseases. I want my girl to be normal, educated and jolly. I need her to walk and talk like the way you and i do but she is disabled. All these hopes seem to fade away each year as she gets older,i realize that i have to snap out of my dreams and wishes to match with the reality" she said as tears sneaked out her eyes.

Agnes demonstrates to Hildah's mother how to successfully feed her. "My dear, the trick at times is to put the food on her teeth so that she gets to know that there is food in the mouth . Always close her mouth, so that she takes time to chew it because its also a process due to her condition. Every thing takes time and the best results come with patience, love and support"

Hildah is One of the children taken care of by the Differently Abled organisation a home with eleven children each with a different health and mental situation. The home is started to provide help, education and further medication to these children since most of them are from poor family back grounds.
